NKJV 365 Day Reading Plan

DAY 336 OF 365

Demonstrate Compassion

Jesus was a very compassionate man. Often in the Gospels, you see some description of Him like the following: “But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd” (9:36).

I wish those words always described me, but they don’t. In fact, I struggle as much as anyone with demonstrating compassion. I have learned, however, that one way to follow Jesus in demonstrating compassion is to speak a timely word about Jesus to those who need Him most. There is a real art to turning a conversation to spiritual things, and doing so compellingly and compassionately.

More and more I want to share the Good News because it is the very reason that Jesus Christ came to the planet Earth in the first place. Jesus didn’t go to the cross just so we could have happy homes. He came “to seek and to save that which was lost” (Luke 19:10).

Look around you. The army of God needs fresh, compassionate troops who are willing to go to the front lines. The hour couldn’t be more urgent. And your family is an important part of the solution. Prayerfully consider who God has placed in your life, who needs to hear of God’s love and forgiveness through Jesus Christ. Then take some steps to reach out in an appropriate way.
