NKJV 365 Day Reading PlanSample

In biblical times, family members tended to share a sleeping area, so if a man got up at night, he’d wake up everyone. That’s why the man in Jesus’ story doesn’t want to get up. But Jesus is not comparing God to a grouchy man who wants to sleep. Jesus means that if persistence paid off for a man who beat on the door of a reluctant friend — verse 9 could be translated, “keep asking, keep seeking, keep knocking” — certainly it will bring us a blessing as we pray to a loving heavenly Father. We are His children, with Him in His house!
