The Heart of God Towards the Poor and SufferingSample

The Heart of God Towards the Poor and Suffering

DAY 12 OF 14

To pour yourself out. If you were to imagine a glass of water being poured out, fully OUT, you can imagine it being poured out until it is empty...until there is nothing left. The author of this chapter describes the believer being poured out for the hungry. It’s hard to picture ourselves being emptied for others. We are all so busy and many times spent to the degree we feel like we don’t have any energy to give to anybody outside of our family and friends. However the Bible is describing a full emptying of the believer for others. If you continue though the preceding verses, you will see that in exchange for pouring yourself out, for emptying everything you have for those in need, God will make you like a spring of water that does not fail. How incredible! There is a promise for us that if we commit to pouring ourselves out for those in need, God will refresh us and satisfy us always. I don’t know about you, but that makes me want to empty myself out for other people so that God can fill me with His everlasting water! If you’re feeling like you’re running on empty today, ask God to refresh you. But more than that, take a step of faith and reach out to someone today. Pour out what little might be left in you and allow God to refresh you!
