 Day 4: More With Us Than Against Us

Secrets exposed. Angelic armies. Parties thrown for enemies. Surprise ending. You can’t make this stuff up. Hollywood has great stories, and we can still learn so much from our God when it comes to original plot twists the likes of 2 Kings 6:8-23. 

We’ll keep the devotion shorter to provide more time to read the entire Scripture passage, but here’s the bottom line as summed up by the Prophet Elisha as he faces an entire Aram army of warriors, horses and chariots:

“Fear not. The army that fights for us is more than the army that fights for Aram.” 2 Kings 6:16

This army that Elisha prays his attendant will see is a mighty militia of horses and chariots of fire veiled from the physical eye, yet still just as real. 

As we spend the next month fasting and praying for the healing of our nations’ racial divide, let us remember that we wrestle not against flesh and blood. In this spiritual war, our fellow brothers and sisters in faith are not our enemy. Racism may have divided us, but we are not fighting each other. Let us turn our attention to the real enemy who comes to steal, kill and destroy and believe God that more are fighting for us than against us.  

PRAYER

Lord, May we have the courage of Elisha to stand before the enemy unshaken and unafraid because we trust You and know You are protecting us. We pray that You open our eyes to see truth and to see the great spiritual army that You have dispersed in this season to war on our behalf. May we eventually be able to throw parties for those who meant us harm, resulting in peace, life and love. In Jesus’s Name we pray, Amen.
