River Valley Church SOAP - Part 8Sample

River Valley Church SOAP - Part 8

DAY 3 OF 31

Psalms 113-118 are called the Hallel (which means “Praise”), and were sung by families before and after eating the Passover meal together. Each takes on a different nuance of praise: Psalms 113 and 115 are written in call-and-response forms for the purpose of unified corporate worship, Psalm 114 is a historical retelling of God’s faithfulness to Israel, Psalm 116 is an individual expression of thanksgiving for deliverance from a personal low place, and Psalm 117 foreshadows the expansion of praise rising up to God from people of ALL nations!  Psalm 118 weaves together sections of both corporate and individual praise into a prophetic culmination that is quoted multiple times in the New Testament, showing how Jesus is the perfect Messiah, coming in the name of Lord to be the divinely-ordained Cornerstone of the people called by God’s name.

At River Valley Church, our heart is global and we want to do everything we can to reach people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. One way we can do this is by praying for different countries and people groups, including those who are unreached. We believe that our prayers can make a difference (2 Chronicles 7:14) and that when we pray, more laborers will go (Matthew 9:38) and when more laborers go, nations will be changed (Romans 10:14). Will you do what Psalms 2:8 says and join us in praying for a different country or people group each week?
