DAY 91 OF 91

HAGGAI 1 & 2 - ULTIMATE SATISFACTION

Have you ever known that God wants you to do something and you keep putting it off? Maybe it’s sharing the hope of His Son with your friend or maybe it’s that addiction that you keep saying, “I’m going to quit”... next month. Maybe it’s that person that has hurt you and you know you need to forgive them, but every day you wake up, you just can’t go there.

God’s people did the same thing here by putting off the building of His temple. The book of Haggai has two chapters with 38 total verses packed with wisdom and messages that can teach us so many important lessons.

In verse 1:5 God says to “Consider your ways!” We get so busy that it’s hard to slow down for needed personal reflection. Pause and take a minute and ask God to reveal to you what you need to surrender to His Lordship. In 1:8, God says, “You eat, but not enough to be satisfied.” We never find true peace and satisfaction when we live for ourselves because we always end up wanting more.

It is only when we live to give Him the glory that we can find true peace and joy. Where have you been placing the crown of glory? Yourself? Your kids? Your spouse? Your career? Your lousy golf game? Guess what? You will not be satisfied.

In chapter 2, God tells His people to take courage because His Spirit was in their midst. He tells us the same today but now His Spirit lives IN us. Keep taking next steps to press into His promises that you are His masterpiece, created in Christ Jesus for good works. You’ve got this!

Family Connection: Have your family this week make a list of things that are important to each of you and rank them by priority—family, friends, house, food, school, sports, etc.. After you have made the list, ask, "Where should God go?” Have your family say, “God is more important than anything!”
