The Power Of A Humble Heart Years ago, our church was praying fervently about penetrating Taiwan with the Gospel. But in order to really break into the country, we had to find partners and local churches who were based there. One day, I met a tall, gawky Taiwanese pastor by the name of Abraham Ku who had a small church of about 200 members. He was tasked to drive me during that visit to the city of Taipei, and as we arrived at the huge Christian rally that I was scheduled to participate in, he ushered me all the way to the front row. I expected him to sit with me, or at least on the next row. Imagine my shock when the host of the rally dismissively said to him, “Abraham, the front rows are full. Why don’t you take a seat in the last row?” I could tell Abraham was embarrassed. But in one of the greatest displays of humility that I have ever witnessed, Abraham simply said, “OK.” He then proceeded to walk to the last row of the hall, past all the other pastors, church leaders, and even his own members who were already seated. An average man might have felt offended and walked out. But Abraham was so hungry for revival that he was content just to be a doorkeeper in the house of God. His position in the eyes of man didn’t matter to him. All he desired was to be a part of God’s plan and purpose! In the years that followed, Pastor Abraham Ku has been a tireless co-worker with me for God’s work. Together, we have preached the Gospel to hundreds of thousands of people, witnessing an amazing revival of God and the transformation of Christianity in Taiwan. From a small church, his own congregation has grown to the thousands and he is one of the most respected ministers in Taiwan today! The Bible says that if we humble ourselves in God's sight, He will lift us up (Jas. 4:10). As we position ourselves to serve unreservedly like Pastor Abraham, God will certainly do great things in and through us! Prayer for the day: Pray that God will help you to carry an attitude of humility in your life—to be the least in order to become great for Him!
