Grace: Born That WaySample

Grace: Born That Way

DAY 5 OF 5

When God created the world, it was good.  When God made man and woman, it was good.  When God blessed them with Marriage, it was good.  What causes Image Bearers to redefine God’s goodness?  In a word - Pride.

Pride causes us to redefine good and evil for ourselves.

That is why we find the banner of pride at the center of mankind’s rebellion.  And why, as Peter and James wrote, God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.

While waiting for God’s promised Seed, mankind continued to go their own way.  Men and women going their own way lead to disastrous results.  In Noah’s day, mankind became so prideful, so separated from God that our Creator was grieved.

God opposed the flood of pride, but He also provided an everlasting covenant of grace.   God gives us a choice.  We can stay under the banner of pride, or we can re-integrate with our Creator under the rainbow of grace.

  • It takes grace to accept the identity God gave you.
  • It takes grace to trust God’s wisdom in all things including Marriage.
  • It takes grace to repent and ask for forgiveness.
  • it takes grace to trust Jesus with everything
If you are feeling lost or dis-integrated - stop trying to redefine yourself, stop searching for a new identity.  Accept who you were created to be.  Stop trying to define good and evil for yourself.  Find your true identity in Jesus.  He will give you the courage to rejoice, and truly love yourself today.  By Grace - you were born that way.
