The Holy Spirit | The Holy Spirit Speaks

The Holy Spirit speaks to us constantly. He consoles us, edifies us and exhorts us. The Holy Spirit also wants to speak through us. He wants to use you to speak to others for Him—to comfort them, build them up and encourage them. One way you can do that is through prophecy.

Prophecy is simply a message from God spoken through one person to another person (or to a group of people). It’s a message that gives people courage. It builds people up and doesn’t tear down, because the underlying element is always love. When you believe the Holy Spirit is speaking a message to you, be bold and speak that message out in faith to others.

You might think you can’t hear God; but if you take the time to listen, you’ll be able to hear Him speaking to you through the Holy Spirit. Sit still and ask Him to speak to you. When He does speak, express it in words that encourage others.

Encourage means to put courage in, and conversely, discourage means to take courage out. Are you an encourager or a discourager? Do you put courage into those around you by the words you speak? The Holy Spirit is an encourager. Allow Him to speak through you today, and He’ll use you to encourage others.
