Jesus | Jesus Is a Prophet

There was a time when God wanted to talk to His people as a friend, but they were afraid of Him and sent Moses in their place. That’s when God promised Moses He would send a prophet who would edify, build and strengthen. Jesus was the prophet God promised to send, and He completely fulfilled every aspect of that role.

When Jesus came, He didn’t come to condemn. He didn’t come to tell us how bad we’re doing, how imperfect we are and how we can never get anything right. Instead, Jesus came to encourage, strengthen and edify. He always encouraged people, and He continues to do so today.

Jesus didn’t only come to edify us. He also came to build us up. Picture a house made of stone. Each stone has its own individual beauty, worth and strength. When the stones are joined together, however, their beauty, strength and worth are greatly multiplied. It’s the same with the church. As Christians, every one of us is a living stone, each unique. As we allow Jesus to build us up, we become the church, the house of God. We each have our place supporting the stones around us, and Jesus is the mortar binding us all together and making us stronger.

Jesus wants to edify us, build us up and strengthen us so that He can use us to build a house for God. He doesn’t just want a bunch of gathered stones. He wants an assembled Church that is building His kingdom together. It is time for us to assemble.
