We’re down to the nitty-gritty now. It’s time to get serious about what we truly want in this life. I’ve often heard people argue that what you want doesn’t matter to God. I would beg to differ, my friend. If what we wanted in life didn’t matter to God, then why would He tell us candidly in Scripture to ask and it shall be given to us?

What we want absolutely matters to God, but here’s the caveat—only when our heart is fully submitted to God. That doesn’t mean it’s only reserved for perfect followers of Christ. There is no such thing. We all fall short of God’s standard for our lives. But as long as you commit in your heart to stay focused and keep progressing in your walk with Christ, He will grant the desires of your heart. The question you must answer is, have you truly submitted your heart to God? Are there areas in your life where you have fallen short and need to get things right? If so, then don’t put off for tomorrow what needs to be done today. Right now, ask God to forgive you where you’ve fallen short and then make the commitment not to go back to your old habits that separate you from Him. Once your heart is in submission to the Lord, He will grant the desires of your heart.

The next question you must ask yourself is why you want that thing you’re petitioning God for. Maybe you’re living a life in submission to God, but you still haven’t received the answer to that major prayer you’ve been waiting on. That’s because either it’s not God’s timing yet, or you’re asking for the wrong reasons. God’s greatest desire is for your heart. He and Satan are battling daily for your heart. In order for God to truly grant you the desires of your heart, you must ask yourself whether your heart is in alignment with God’s will. Do your greatest desires make an impact for the Kingdom of God, or do they only serve your own selfish purposes for your life? It’s time to dream bold dreams, pray big prayers, and ask for the desires of your heart. What is that God-sized dream that’s been consuming your mind day and night? It’s time to ask the Father. God can and will give you the desires of your heart as long as you stay focused and committed to your walk with Christ.
