Day 3: Holy Is The Lord

We serve a God that is Holy.  This means He is different from any other gods and free from all sin and imperfections. This means that the God we serve is perfect in all of His ways and no one in, above, or below the earth comes close to being as He is.  Why is knowing about the holiness of God so important?  I believe true growth and contentment happens when a creation knows the unique things about its creator.  One of those unique things about God is His Holiness.  Understanding that God is Holy will help us understand who we are and the power we have as children of God.  So, who are we in Christ?  1 Peter 2:9 says, “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for His own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light”.  This entire verse is telling us that we have been chosen out of a sinful life, by a Holy God and for His own purpose, to proclaim to all nations how Holy and excellence He is.  On top of being chosen, in Christ, our new nature is seen as holy and we are considered royalty unto Him that is Royal and Holy.  We belong to God and we have a royal nature in Him.  When we were born, our nature was sinful, and we only had the potential to be a part of a holy nation.  When we were chosen out of our sinful nature, we became a people of God who obtained mercy and grace in Christ Jesus.  

If you ever feel like you mean nothing, remember that you were chosen by the most Holy God in the universe.  Remember that, because you are a part of a royal family, your life is royal regardless of what anyone says.  As royalty, you have a major role to play in this life here on earth.  Your job is to be holy as God is holy, in the sense of being separate from the world, leading by example, having integrity, and staying free from sin.  Although, we may fall short, we have obtained mercy from the one that is Holy.
