DAY 3 OF 7

DAY 3

The Gift of Inheritance

Genesis 1:26; Romans 8:15–17; Ephesians 1:13–14

We were made in the image of God. He formed us as a copy of Himself. We are meant to serve as the tangible representation of who our Creator is.

Maybe you’re thinking, I am not perfect or anywhere remotely close to who God is. #True. We fall short by a landslide. Mudslide. Yup, all of that. However, when Adam and Eve disobeyed God, their disobedience did not change the fact they were made in God’s image. No, sin only disfigured it. What I love about blemishes and messes is that they can be healed, perfected, and made clean. Christ did that. He wiped the ugliness right up and is in the business of our renewal—over and over again.

How blessed are we to be able to call God “Father”? How blessed are we to be heiresses of the kingdom? An heiress is defined as a woman who inherits huge sums of money, a title, and/or property. She’s basically the girl who gets the goods when the family member ahead of her dies. Christ died for you to give you abundant life. You have life here on earth and can look forward to living again on the other side of eternity.

As a King’s kid, you have the audacity to claim your inheritance and all God has promised to you. When we believe Christ and become His followers, we also must seek to live in His will. I’m finding that the best way to do this is by first learning to trust in God and to believe in His promises—no matter what our circumstances look like.

Luke 11:13 says, “If imperfect parents know how to lovingly take care of their children and give them what they need, how much more will the perfect heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit’s fullness when his children ask Him.” As heiresses to the kingdom, we must confidently come to the throne. You are not a peasant—begging God for porridge is like praying for crumbs. Whether you pray with wild faith or faith the size of a mustard seed, God desires to present a feast to His princess.

In what ways might believing you are an heiress of God’s “goods” change your view of your life and embolden your relationship with Jesus?
