How to Pray for Children in Poverty: 5 Prayers Sample

How to Pray for Children in Poverty: 5 Prayers

DAY 1 OF 5

Pray for Safety

When children living in poverty look around, what do they see? A rough neighborhood as far as the eyes can see—drugs being sold on the corner, trash littering the streets, prostitution and crime.

The children may even see the impact of war or their friends being sold for sex. These little ones often fear it will happen to them. And many children face these realities every day.

Proverbs 18:10 reminds us that God’s name is a strong tower in times of trouble. Notice that it doesn’t say that he provides people with refuge. It says he is the refuge. He is the tower of safety. He is the stronghold in times of trouble.

God doesn’t turn a blind eye to those in need. He knows every detail of their suffering. He sees every hurt, every tear and every need. Let’s pray today that God will be the refuge for children around the world who are living in poverty.

Suggested Prayer:

“Dear Lord, you are the God ofall. I pray you will protect all children in poverty from the harm that surrounds them. Give them a community of support and adults that love and nurture them. Thank you for being their haven, the one they can turn to in times of trouble.

I know that many of these children live in fear—fear that someone may harm them or fear of not having enough to eat. Provide what they need. May each child know your love and care. May they understand that your perfect love casts out all fear. May they be wrapped in your loving arms of protection. Amen.”

Scripture: Proverbs 18:10; Psalms 9:7-10
