Chasing Truth™: Read the Bible Cover to CoverSample

Worthy of Trust
Daniel 6:4
There are a few people I trust who have integrity through and through. Even fewer whom I would trust with my dearest treasures. The word “trustworthy” carries such weight. What does it mean to be trustworthy? Obviously, a basic definition would be worthy of trust. The Hebrew meaning of this word means someone you can be sure of, believe in, and know that they are faithful. But, Daniel 6:4, NIV, adds this meaning to trustworthy: “neither corrupt nor negligent.”
It’s one thing to not be corrupt. We probably know many people who have true integrity in their lives, people who are trustworthy to do the right thing, whether seen by others or not. But, couple that with someone who will cover all the bases and make sure nothing is amiss, going the extra mile? Well, that is a whole extra level of being trustworthy.
Can we pause and ask ourself, What would others say about me? Am I worthy of others’ trust across the board? Do the people who know me the best see me as trustworthy, or is it only those who see one side of me?
I’ve heard it taught that there are four areas of our life. One area is what I, as well as others, know about myself. A second area is what others know or see about me, but I don’t. The third area is what I see, but others don’t. Last, we hold an area in our lives that only God sees and knows. However, God is the only One who sees all four areas of my life. We need God’s insight.
If God could make Daniel trustworthy, full of integrity, and faithful in every way, He can do the same for you and me. Take a moment to ask Him to reveal any area that isn’t right before Him. Let Him help you confess it and begin to walk in a new way. You, too, can be considered truly trustworthy.
