Those with Fearful Hearts

Isaiah 35:4

What causes your heart to quake in fear? Does the possibility of a specific situation cause you to fear? Does the thought of it bring a sense of helplessness? These two verses powerfully remind us that our God is mighty and He is present when we fear. 

The enemy uses fear as a weapon to rob believers of our peace. God is the author and source of peace through any and every storm or trial. The enemy pounces on every opportunity to speak a message to our hearts to shake us from our place of peace in Christ. The natural thing is to fear and to shrink back. The good news is—we don’t have to! 

We are called to strengthen each other when fear comes pounding on our door, and darkness floods our thoughts. “ . . . Say to those with fearful hearts, ‘Be strong, do not fear; your God will come, he will come with vengeance; with divine retribution He will come to save you’” (Isaiah 35:4, NIV).

Friend, we don’t have to fall prey to the enemy’s schemes. Our God is big enough to rescue us from difficulties, walk with us all the way through every trial, and strengthen us for the journey. No matter what we face, no matter how impossible our circumstance seems, He is enough, and He will deal with the enemy of our souls. 

We are called to strengthen each other when our hands shake, and our knees give way because what we fear shakes us to the core. So, may I do that for you today? I pray that this brief devotional will come to all who might need it this very moment, on this very day. May the truth of the love and power of your God flood your soul with peace, joy, and strength. He will come to save you, dear one.
