Worthy of All Praise
Isaiah 25
Something is powerful about a song someone writes, then sings when the moment calls for it. It can soothe a heart, reframe a thought, or encourage an emotion. Songs are also powerful when they carry the right message. This is the case in Isaiah 25.
The prophet Isaiah seems to stop for a moment, after pronouncing judgements on enemy nations, and begins to worship God for who He is. In Isaiah 25:1, NIV, he says, “Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done wonderful things, things planned long ago.” Then, he declares how God will ruin the enemy’s strongholds, how He provides help to the poor and a refuge from the storm. Isaiah tells us that this is our God—Who will wipe away tears from our faces and make His people glad because they trusted in Him.
I love this reminder because God is always worthy of praise. In the middle of life’s circumstances, when the enemy seems to have the upper hand, we can forget who He is and that He is worthy of praise. Listening to His Word and getting a fresh glimpse of His greatness helps us to shift our focus back to where it belongs—on His will, His Kingdom, His plan, and His power. Doing this often prompts a song. Spend time today thinking about the greatness of God. Pray the words of Isaiah 25. Fill your heart with praises; sing a new song to the Lord.
How recently have you spent time thanking God for His greatness? Why not do it again today? He alone is worthy of all praise!
