[Bible Trek: Luke] What Is God’s Kingdom Like?

DAY 7 OF 7

What is God’s kingdom like?

“Jesus asked, ‘What is God’s kingdom like? To what can I compare it?’” (Luke 13:18)

When we show God’s love, we make the kingdom grow. God’s kingdom is like a mustard seed. God’s kingdom will grow from small beginnings!

Read the Bible

Jesus used different examples for people to understand what the kingdom of God is. But the mustard seed is surely the most graphic:

“It’s like a mustard seed that someone took and planted in a garden. It grew and developed into a tree and the birds in the sky nested in its branches." (Luke 13:19)

God's kingdom grows from small beginnings, with little things like a seed, being nice to somebody, or being kind to your parents, being responsible for the tasks you are given. It starts growing and soon others can see God’s kingdom in you!

Think about it

Every time we talk to God, worship God, tell others about God, and serve people around us to show God’s love, we are making the kingdom of God grow! God counts on you in this work. This is really exciting. God counts on you!

Do something about it

How can you help the kingdom of God grow? Write in your “FaithBook” three things you can do this week to show your parents respect, obedience, and love. The kingdom of God starts at home.

Talk to God

"God, thank you that Jesus teaches us how to make the kingdom of God grow between us. Help me to understand this kind of life, and give me the wisdom to obey and respect my parents every day."

Scripture
