DAY 60 OF 116

EZEKIEL 42-43:
In yesterday’s tour of the ideal temple we viewed the sanctuary and Most Holy Place.

ISAIAH 18:
In our reading in Isaiah yesterday we heard prophecies about  Damascus, Syria, and Israel.

HEBREWS 12:
After the writer of Hebrews gave inspiring examples of victories won by famous heroes of the faith, the author spoke about all those unnamed people who won an even more precious victory They suffered and many were martyred because of fully believing, but they did not see earthly victory. The Faith Chapter ends with this:

Heb. 11:39 NLT All these people earned a good reputation because of their fully believing, yet none of them received all that God had promised.
40 For God had something better in mind for us, so that they would not reach perfection without us.

Let’s pray.
Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for all those faithful believers mentioned in Hebrews 11 who did not receive what they hoped for in this life. Thank You that not everyone worked miracles, not everyone was victorious. Those ‘others’ sound more normal, like us. “They were stoned, or killed,” or were “poor, persecuted, and mistreated.” As verse 13 says,
13 All these people kept on fully believing until they died. They did not receive the things God had promised, but from a long way off they saw them and welcomed them, and admitted openly that they were foreigners and refugees on earth.
Lord, give us a longer view like Moses:
As though he saw the invisible God, he refused to turn back.
So as the next chapter says,
As for us, we have this large crowd of witnesses around us. So then, let us rid ourselves of everything that gets in the way, and of the sin which holds on to us so tightly, and let us run with determination the race that lies before us. Let us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus.
So Lord, today, as we do everything, may our gaze actually be on You.
