DAY 40 OF 116

EZEKIEL 10-11:
Yesterday in Ezekiel 8-9 we heard the story of Ezekiel’s being transported to Jerusalem and his awesome vision of our glorious God revealing the idolatry of Israel happening right at the temple. Some of the locations described are literal, and some are to be taken figuratively. One clearly sees that God has every right to be highly offended. Note that the people sharing God’s grief at this idolatrous situation received a mark on their foreheads.

SONG OF SOLOMON 6:
Yesterday in chapter 5 of Song of Solomon, we heard the young woman relating her dream.

MATTHEW 26a:
Yesterday in Matthew 25, we heard Jesus’ direct and clear teaching about the final judgment. This was no parable. And note the words, “eternal punishment.”

Let’s pray.
Lord Jesus, putting two of your parables together, we see that we are those servants to whom you have given bags of gold. But the investments you want us to make with your riches entrusted to us are these:

  • To feed the hungry for your glory,
  • To give a drink of cool water for your sake,
  • To welcome strangers into our homes for the sake of your Kingdom,
  • To clothe needy people so that they can meet you,
  • To take care of sick people as though we were caring for You,
  • And to treat even prisoners as if it were You suffering in prison.

Lord, help us! We want to be in on your right hand side on that final judgment day, and enter into a kingdom that had our names written on it ever since the creation of the world. Oh, let us not miss it! Stamp love into our hearts, so that love will move us to do all those things You mentioned, in order that the thirsty, hungry, needy, sick, and prisoners will not enter eternal punishment.
