Who Does God Say I Am?Sample

Who Does God Say I Am?

DAY 1 OF 6

What Are You Reflecting?

God describes us in so many ways. He identifies us as bearers of His image, His children, valuable, and chosen friends. Wait—“bearers of His image”? What does that even mean? Don’t worry. For the next six days, we’ll take a look at a few titles given to us by God. First up is “bright.”

We’re a lot like a mirror. We reflect what’s happening around us to everyone we see. But who are we reflecting? Are we copying godly things? Are we repeating words or actions we know we shouldn’t?

Okay, back to mirrors. Mirrors can only reflect the light that touches them. They cannot generate new light. It’s a lot like us and how we show God to the rest of the world. We can be just another reflection of the people, ideas, culture, trends, and whatever else around us. Or, we can be something different. Something bright! We can learn about God, His ideas, and His plan for our lives. That makes us reflections of something very different: God’s loving light. If we shine God’s light, that bright light will brighten up the world around us.

2 Corinthians 3:18 tells us we are being transformed daily into Christ as we reflect His image. But this only happens if we make God visible from the inside out, if we shine bright.

Ask yourself: Who are you reflecting: yourself, your friends, God, something else? Who are you becoming: more like the world or more like God?

Challenge yourself: Shine God’s light by asking one of your friends to come to church with you this weekend! Shine God’s light by offering to help someone this week.

Pray: God, help me to reflect You. Your light shines brighter than any other. I want to reflect Your glory to the world. Thank You for Your Son’s sacrifice for us so Your Spirit can shine through us. In Jesus’ name, amen.
