Kamp Kids Book of John StudySample

What were these disciples doing? Jesus had taken them out of their life of fishing and told them they would be fishers of men (Luke 5: 10-11).
Jesus, whom they followed, had been raised from the dead! They should be out telling the world, but they went back to fishing for FISH. Ha! They caught nothing. These are professional fishermen and they caught nothing. That was a miracle. Yes, I think it’s a miracle sometimes when we don’t get to rely on our own strength so that we can see Jesus show up. Sometimes we do things we feel comfortable doing, things we can do in our own strength, rather than God things. Sometimes we go back to what we know so that we don’t have to trust God. However, when Jesus showed up, and they listened to Him, their net was full. It was full of 153 fish which was said to be the amount of different species of fish in the Sea of Galilee. This is significant because Jesus did not call His disciples to search after one type of fish, but the whole world.
I am wondering how Peter and Jesus were interacting with each other? Was there an elephant in the room? Was it awkward since Peter denied Jesus three times?
I like how we see Peter and Jesus now around a fire fellowshipping. Do you remember where Peter was when He denied Christ three times? He was around a fire. I love the details in how God works. Jesus is about to allow Peter a chance to redeem himself.
Questions:
1. What things in your life do you do out of routine or comfort? For example, I do chores around the house, watch TV, go to work, etc.
2. How can you do these things to the Glory of God?
Romans 12: 1-2 (The Message) “So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.”
3. Has God called you to more but because of your fear you return to living like normal? If so, will you trust Him?
4. How can your brothers and sisters in Christ help you live out what you feel God is calling you to do?

About this Plan

"We get hype for Jesus," but why? What's so amazing about this Jesus guy? Is He really worth living for? Is He really who He says He is? "Kamp Kids John Study" was written as a 60 day devotional to keep kids engaged with Jesus and His heart, especially after coming back from "kamp" or an amazing encounter with our living God.
