Hallowed Be Thy NameSample

Hallowed Be Thy Name

DAY 1 OF 21

Hallowed be Your name

Matt 6:9 In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name.

Jesus taught His disciples to pray. While addressing God as their Father, they must remember to start by hallowing the name of God. Yes God is our Father, but we cannot be careless when we approach God.

Isaiah 57:15 For thus says the High and Lofty One who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy...

To hallow something is to set it apart as holy, to consider it as being worthy of absolute devotion. God is holy and His name is holy too.

So how do we hallow His name?

• through our words

Ex 20:7 you shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.

To take His name in vain means to take it lightly or jokingly or even falsely. The Jews shivered to take the name of God because they considered it too holy.

That means we too need to have reverence and understanding when we use Gods name. We must never use His name to promote our agenda.

• through our reverent attitude

Lev 10:3 ...By those who come near Me, I must be regarded as holy.

We must always approach God in awe. We can never match Him in holiness or goodness. It is His humility that He bends down to fellowship with us.

♥ Response: Teach me to praise Your name each day. Help me to think upon, call upon and reverence Your name. May I never use Your name lightly. In Jesus’ name.

Declarations:

Our Father in heaven, I love and honor Your name. I think upon Your name, who You are and what You do. Matt 6:9

You are the God who does great and mighty things for me, I honor You for Your name is holy. Luke 1:49

I will worship toward Your holy temple and praise Your name. Ps 138:2

In Your name I rejoice all day long. Ps 89:16

Save me O God by Your name. And vindicate me by Your strength. Ps 54:1

I remember Your name in the night, O Lord, and I keep your law. Ps 119:55

I am righteous and I shall give thanks to Your name, I am upright and I shall dwell in Your presence. Ps 140:13

For Your names sake, O Lord, pardon my iniquity, for it is great. Ps 25:11

Every day I will bless You, and I will praise Your name forever and ever. Ps 145:2

O Lord, our Lord, how excellent is Your name in all the earth! Ps 8:9

Let’s pray:

Ask God for grace to fast and pray throughout these 21 days.

Pray that God would do something new in your life in this season, that you will have a greater revelation of Who God is and that you may live a life worthy of Him.

Ask God’s grace to spend time in His Word daily, that God would give you understanding
