I Have Questions: Is Vaping Okay?

DAY 1 OF 5

Advice isn’t so difficult to accept when it’s advice we want. If you play an instrument or want to make a team, you might look for advice on YouTube or ask a friend on how to get better. We usually don’t mind this kind of advice because it makes us better at something we enjoy!

But receiving advice isn’t always that easy! When it’s advice we’re NOT asking for or that stops us from doing something that we want to do? That, we don’t always love!

Listen to advice and accept discipline, and at the end you will be counted among the wise (Proverbs 19:20 NIV).

This verse reminds us that when we listen to advice and accept discipline (even the kind we don’t always want at the time), we’ll be counted among the wise. Good advice won’t always be easy to take or follow, but when we surround ourselves with people who want what’s best for us, we can trust that their advice is for our benefit. And if we put it into practice, we’ll be better for it in the long run.

Is there someone you trust—like a coach, small group leader, or even an older sibling—who’s been giving you advice lately?

Today, ask God to give you the courage to start putting their advice into practice this week.

Remember, while it might not always be easy, accepting advice from the people we trust might be just the thing that leads us down the path of wisdom in our lives.
