The Bible Study Reading PlanSample

EPHESIANS
AUTHOR:
The letter to the Ephesians was written by the apostle Paul.
DATE:
Paul wrote Ephesians around AD 60 to 62, during his Roman imprisonment. It can be assumed that Paul wrote from there because he was only on house arrest while in Rome, which meant that he had the freedom to preach and his friends were still able to visit him.
AUDIENCE:
Paul wrote this letter to the church at Ephesus in Asia Minor and was to be used as a circulatory letter to all of the churches in the area.
Ephesus was a rough city. They were overly saturated with pagan idol worship and would do anything possible to acquire salvation. Even so, the Ephesian church had a strong foundation.
REASON:
The reason that Paul wrote this letter was to teach them about identity and to show them how to stand firm by loving one another in their current culture.
THEME:
Walking in your new identity.
KEY VERSE:
"For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them." (2:10 ESV)
SPLIT:
Identity in Christ (1-3), Walking it Out (4-6)
KEY WORDS/PHRASES:
In Christ, Walk, Body, Armor
Scripture
