Love God Greatly: Faithful Love Sample

“They made kings, but not through me. They set up princes, but I knew it not. With their silver and gold they made idols for their own destruction.” (Hosea 8:4) The people of Israel were experts in living an independent life apart from God.

To make decisions without searching for God´s direction is not only sinful but foolish. What a mistake! The Lord warns us against that in His Word.

“Be not wise in your own eyes.” Proverbs 3:7

“Never be wise in your own sight.” Romans 12:16

We tend to judge things based on what is right before our eyes, on what we see. And we forget that we only see a small part of what´s going on. Only God has it all in His sight. Only He sees the full picture of our lives. We need God´s guidance in everything we do, in every decision we make. That´s faith. We use our faith to press on even when our body feels like giving up because we are certain of God´s Word and out of obedience to His will for our lives, regardless of how difficult things may turn.

Dear God, I don´t want to lean on my own understanding and be wise in my own eyes. I ask You to lead me when I have to make a decision. Give me the certainty that I´m moving based on what You have for me. Amen.
