Enough: Lent DevotionalsSample

ENOUGH: CLAY
“But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.” (2 Corinthians 4:7)
Sometimes in life, we work hard for the wrong reasons. The need to impress others and to be accepted has, for many, become the chief motivation for success.
Our validation doesn’t come through our circumstances: what we achieve or what we don’t achieve. God is the one who validates us – we are in Him and He is in us. The more we realize this, the more content we will become.
Paul uses the imagery of treasure being placed in jars of clay. Like jars of clay, we are easily broken – yet our treasure, who is Christ, delights in dwelling among and within the broken hearted.
Maybe you don’t believe you can make a difference or that your life has meaning. I encourage you to remember the treasure inside you: God’s voice reassuring you that His power is at work within you. God is not intimidated by our brokenness.
Dear God, thank You for making Your home inside my heart, and for Christ my eternal treasure. Help me to remember that in my weakness Your power is made perfect, and that You demonstrate Your power through jars of clay. In you, my life has a purpose. Help me to flourish where You have planted me. In Jesus’ name, amen.

About this Plan

In God’s eyes, we are more than enough. It’s why He sent His son to reconcile us to Him. Though we may never grasp just how much He loves us, at Lent we can take time to reflect on all He did for us. It's time to reject the message that we aren’t enough, and instead remember Christ died for us, just as we are.
