God's Love

DAY 8 OF 9

Love Never Fails

Isn't that great news? God's love never fails.

The word "fail" literally means "to fall". It is the same word used to describe the stars falling from heaven in Mark 13:25. Love never falls away. It never fails.

Many times we abandon love. We try, but when love doesn’t produce the results we want, we move on to fear tactics, guilt, shame and law based tactics. But not God. Love is who he is, and love is how he deals with us always.

Paul wrote very plainly that prophesies would fail, tongues would cease and knowledge would vanish (1 Corinthians 13:8, 9). But not love. It remains. It never fails.

Today, look back at your life. As you do, ask the Lord to show you the ways in which his love changed you. You will be amazed and awed.

When you needed patience, he was patient with you. When you needed kindness, something beneficial and useful, God acted on your behalf. When the lies of the world were pressing you down, God's truth prevailed bringing freedom and peace to your soul. During all the trials and tribulations you've experienced, God has protected you and brought you through. There has never been a time when God was not there loving you.

Paul had a moment in his life when he looked back. Romans 8:31-39 was his conclusion concerning God’s love.

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Paul carried out a monumental task. He lived to advance the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and he suffered mightily for the Lord. If you are like me, you stand in awe of Paul and long to meet him one day. It is easy to think that God loved him more than He loves us. But this is not true.

Paul was no different than you or me. God reached down to him in the person of Jesus Christ and saved him, just like he saved you. He poured out his love on Paul, just as he has poured out his love on you and is doing so as you read these words. Like Paul, you can walk confidently through life knowing that you are loved by God.

Paul was convinced that whatever life threw at him could not separate him from the love of God. The same can be true for you. Are you convinced this is true?

Today, thank him for his love. And, like Paul, take a stand in the love of God and walk confidently through life knowing that nothing in all of creation can separate you from the his love.

About this Plan

God's Love

Jesus left his disciples with this one command: Love others as I have loved you. Do you know exactly how Jesus Christ has loved you and is loving you right now? There is nothing more God wants you to know and experience ...
