Impact Your City

DAY 2 OF 6

Pray, Give, and Go

Peter makes a declaration in the city of Rome. He starts off by saying, “Everything will soon come to an end. So be serious and be sensible enough to pray. Most important of all, you must sincerely love each other, because love wipes away sins.” What he wants you to understand is that because Jesus Christ is returning, you need to be focused. He desires for you to understand the importance of ministry and of what God can do through you.

Praying, giving, and going brings focus. Peter is saying that if you understand that the end of things is near, then you will be disciplined in prayer. This earth will have a completion moment. There will be a time at which ministry will be done on planet Earth and those who have trusted Christ will step into eternity with God.

The ministry is so important, for you in this very moment to say, "Lord, I'm going for it because I know You're coming back." Do you know that in the Scriptures, for every single prophecy about Jesus’ first coming, there are eight prophecies about Jesus’ second coming? For every one time it's mentioned – Christmas, Bethlehem, birth of the Savior, Messiah – there are eight prophecies of the return of Christ, of the Messiah coming, and of the end of time.

By looking around this world today, not just at your city but everywhere, your heart should say, "I have to be even more about praying, giving, and going, because these are the final days that I am in." Now, by no means am I trying to declare to you when the final day is. I do not know. But, I know it's closer today than yesterday. I can tell you that. And Peter is saying that with this in mind you need to be focused.

What should we be focused on? Peter explains three things that you should be about. He begins by talking about loving one another. Next he says, “Offer hospitality to one another without complaining. Based on each gift that everyone has received, use it to serve others, as good managers of the varied grace of God." Peter is saying that you are to love well, be hospitable, and walk in your giftedness.
