A Legacy of Pure Hope

There is no quick fix for the problems families face in the sexualized culture where temptation, confusion, and perversion flourish. No miracle app is available for download (we looked). No guarantees of pain and mistake-free lives exist. But there is a path forward and that path is defined by hope and purity—His purity and His purifying work.

Maybe God’s story was never told in your home, or maybe it hasn’t captivated you, and instead you’ve been taken captive to counterfeits and lies of the enemy. Part of your parenting journey, part of your pursuit of purity, may start with bringing sin into the light. Maybe there is no evident sin, but there is confusion. In the context of trusted community, talk about it! And be willing to tell your children you don’t have all the answers, but you want to find them together.

Our call isn’t always easy, but it is simple. Our call is to model for our children an honest and imperfect pursuit of purity. To be able to say to them, “Follow me, as I follow Christ.”

A purified life is the result of setting our eyes again on our certain hope, the ultimate assurance that we will one day—on “that final day”—be like Jesus in perfect righteousness and be with Him in perfect unity. This pure hope is the greatest legacy we can give our children.
