The Wisdom Of The Teacher For College Students, Ch. 2Sample

The Teacher turns to consider the value of wisdom and its counterparts, madness and folly. He does this because he realizes that there will be someone who comes after him who will repeat his search.
The conclusion reached is that there is an advantage of wisdom over folly. At least the person with wisdom can see what is all around him or her. At this point we start to have hope that this is part of the meaning of life.
So, we should seek to be wise, at least we now have something to pursue. But alas, the teacher then points out the common enemy of both, death. Not only will both the fool and wise person die, but both will be forgotten in the long run.
Not surprisingly, the teacher despairs of life itself. That’s where many are on our campuses, despairing of life. Wondering if there is any purpose for all the work they are putting into the pursuit of their degrees and pleasures of the campus life.
That’s why this book has such an appeal for even non-believing students. The similarities jump off the pages as they are read. We’ve got a long way to go to get to the answer, but one is on the way!

About this Plan

The journey to discover the meaning of life continues with Chapter Two of the book of Ecclesiastes. For the next five days we shall join the Teacher on the exploration of life in pursuit of what provides ultimate meaning. The student on campus today will find striking parallels to the searches popular among their peers on the pages of this wonderful book of the Bible.
