DAY 2 OF 4

Everyone wants to change something they don’t like about themselves. Height, hair color, sometimes attitude.  It might even be a sinful behavior we’re trying to rid ourselves of. It can be gossip, lying, fighting, porn, drugs or any other behavior that gets in the way of our relationship with God. Sometimes we know something is wrong, but it feels right or fun or it’s just become a habit. We know we shouldn’t do something but fail at changing. Maybe that’s because we fail to recognize – change is tougher to make on our own.

We could take a basketball and try to hit it like a baseball. We could take a golf ball and use it to play tennis. We could even take a frisbee and use it to play football (which sounds insanely fun!). But a basketball is still a basketball, a golf ball is still a golf ball and a frisbee is still the best invention on earth!

An object that’s designed with inherent DNA cannot suddenly become a different object. As humans, we are wired to sin. It’s our DNA. In our human nature we are drawn to disobedience and rebellion. So, even when we try not to sin sometimes we can’t make ourselves succeed. But by the Spirit’s power living inside of us, the chances of overcoming go exponentially UP!  He’s rooting for us – He wants us to succeed – and He gives us power to strive for that!
