LIVE // Have you ever seen those videos on an airplane about putting an oxygen mask on yourself first, before putting one on a person who needs help next to you? It sounds totally selfish, right? But it makes sense. Sometimes you have to make sure you’ve helped YOURSELF before helping others. When we read what Jesus considered the greatest commandment, it’s easy to focus on the first part: Love God. And go to the next part: Love your neighbor. And forget about the part at the end: as yourself. If you don’t have respect for your own body and kindness for your own self, can you really expect to do the same for others? It isn’t selfish to see yourself like God sees you. It’s healthy. And it’s from that place you can best love others.
