DAY FIVE: Living for Christ

When we come to Christ, the blood of Jesus covers our sin, and we become the righteousness of God through Christ. But there is an outworking of that righteousness—and that work is done in and through us as we die to self and live for Christ.

If I am righteous, then I desire to live like a righteous man should. We live out our righteousness by living in conformity to God’s truth and purpose for our lives.

When we make the choice to live a right life according to the Word of God, we don’t try to push the borders; we don’t try to see how close we can get to the fire without being burned. We make the choice to see how close to the cross we can get in this life. We make the choice to walk in conformity.

When we’re walking in right relationship with God, we become unstoppable on this earth.

You will never experience the life that God has for you— the abundant life—until you let go of the world. Time and again in Scripture we see that when God’s people embraced the pleasures of the culture that surrounded them, they lost their strength.

Are you willing to die to self? Are you willing to walk away from that which is weakening you? Are you willing to live on this earth for the purposes of God?

Do you believe that you can stand when confronted by darkness? Do you believe honestly that your life will make a difference?

If we have the heart of Christ beating within us, we can’t live self-consumed lives. Self has to be dethroned so that God has His rightful place in your life. It’s time to let go and die to self and put God on the throne!
