Wisdom: The Principle ThingSample

Wisdom: The Principle Thing

DAY 31 OF 31

Being a Woman Who Fears the Lord

The heart of a godly mother is a rare treasure in this day and age. Here in Proverbs 31, one of the most famous passages of Scripture for women, we find the mother of King Lemuel pleading with her son to walk in an upright manner and be mindful of his ways. His strength and his youth are not to be wasted on strange women or ways that have led many of kings to destruction (Proverbs 7: 2-3). The drunkenness of leaders leads to perversion of laws and for the cries of the innocent to fall on deaf ears (Proverbs 7:4-5). Leaders that walk in an upright manner and speak on the behalf of the speechless reflect the good commandments of the Lord. They reflect the moral code that God has written on their hearts, and by His good grace, have allowed to be manifested on the outside (Proverbs 31:8-9).

The absence of marriage or children does not disqualify a woman of God to be a virtuous woman. Whether you have the title of mother or wife or neither, you are called to be a woman who fears the Lord and walk in an upright manner before Him. Sister who is single, your marital or parental status does not exclude you from being a woman that pleases God. Are you in Christ? Have you been born again? Then you are in God’s favor. Christ has won that for you. Married or not, walk in the strength and dignity He has clothed you in, and make your arms strong in the work He has prepared for you (Proverbs 31:17). Find your joy in Christ, and face the future with it, knowing that He promises to never leave you nor forsake you (Proverbs 31:25, Deuteronomy 31:6). Wisdom is from the Lord, and in His grace, we can be daughters of wisdom, with words of kindness and knowledge on our lips to teach the generation that comes after us (Titus 2:3-5). This a charge for women, single and married alike. A godly woman is a rarity in this generation, and as time goes by, will become even more scarce. Let’s be the anomalies. Let’s be women of wisdom!
