One of my favorite scriptures is John 10:10 where Jesus says “The thief's purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.” Jesus came, by his own words, to give us “a rich and satisfying life” here on this earth as we embrace our unique design in Him. Yet for most artists, maybe even you, that’s not their story. For many years, it wasn’t mine either.
After being a Christian my whole life and even being in ministry, I came to a stark realization: the biggest roadblock to walking in the abundance God established for me through Christ was not external, but internal. Yes, it was me. Like most Christians I actually struggled to believe God was really that good, because the only thing I ever heard about God was that He sent Jesus to save us from hell and one day He was coming back to get us so that we could live with Him forever. I never heard anything about the here and now, much less His unique plan for my life.
Thankfully, everything in my life began to radically change when I began to reject my old, fear-based way of thinking and started aligning with God’s divine design for my life as an artist. I love the quote by early church father, Saint Irenaeus where he says, “The Glory of God is man fully alive.” You see, there’s nothing that gives God greater Glory than for His sons and daughters to actually be who He created them to be in all their uniqueness. It’s then that God is glorified through us and we experience what Jesus called the abundant life.
My friend, as an artist, you’ve been created by God to see and agree with Heaven—to release His nature into the earth through your creative expression and walk as an ambassador of transformation through your daily life. You’re a part of a great army of artists being raised up all over the earth to reveal His Glory, and you’ve already been given everything you need to thrive in your design. It’s simply a matter of learning to align with Him.
Let the promise of God’s abundance through these scriptures sink deep into your heart as you meditate upon the fact that the very reason Jesus came was so that you could be restored to the Father and live the life He divinely designed you to live.
I hope you enjoy this 7-day journey inspired by teaching from my Created to Thrive Artist Mentoring Program.
