Pray for insight into any resentment against God that X may have, perhaps due to suffering they have seen or experienced (Job 1:21-22)
Whilst unbelievers do not acknowledge that God exists, they can still, somewhat perversely, hold him accountable for the things that have gone wrong in their lives or for the suffering in the world. Sometimes suffering is used as ‘proof’ that God does not exist.
