Abram and Lot separate 

“The Lord said to Abram after Lot had parted from him, “Look around from where you are, to the north and south, to the east and west. All the land that you see I will give to you and your offspring forever.” (Genesis 13:14-15)

God’s commandment for Abram to leave his country and his relatives was very clear, however Abram did not only bring his wife and children, he also brought along his nephew Lot. This is why what God declared when Abram left his home is different than what He said when Abram parted ways with Lot. In the journey after Abram left his country, God revealed himself and said that this country would be given to his descendants, whereas when Abram and Lot parted ways, God said “I am giving all this land, as far as you can see, to you and your descendants as a permanent possession.”
