Trophies And Tools

DAY 5 OF 5

TOOLS (Part 2)

These past few days we’ve established the difference between trophies and tools. We have also discussed the importance of work and how there are always opportunities to share the gospel in the ordinary and mundane places in our lives. To conclude this devotional I want to help encourage you to keep pressing on.

Just like a carpenter, after using our tools for a long period of time we can become fatigued. We can have the most expensive and practical toolkit, but if the person using it doesn’t have the desire to work than it’s all for nothing. It may be hard to see the finished project of something your building when you first start but do not become discouraged. When you were lost, hurting, and in need of the hope of Jesus, an individual didn’t give up on you. Maybe you knew that individual but maybe you didn’t.

Sometimes we think our tools are used to move mountains when Jesus is calling us to use them to plant seeds. We may not see the end result but we must have faith in the process. After all, Jesus did say that all it takes to move a mountain is faith the size of a mustard seed. Let us continue to throw our trophies down, sharpen our tools, and use our spiritual gifts to speak life into those who are lost and in desperate need of Our Savior.

Focus: Stay encouraged and keep pressing on! Weakness will come, the world will place distractions in your path, and you may try to lean on your own good works and understanding. Take heart that Our Father is here to help you grow. He will pick you up when you don’t think you can stand. He will NEVER leave or abandon you. Pray that He will continue to give you the tools that you need to further His kingdom!
