TRUST AND OBEY

God is good all the time. No matter what our experiences have been in the past, are in the present or will be in the future, we have the Lord who is the same yesterday, today and forever.

What really adds value to our lives? Wealth? Family? Work? Money? Children?

The quality and quantity of life depends on where our focus is. God's word and obedience to God's word is what really adds value to our life. If we want to have reputation before people and before God, we need to possess one another thing: love and faithfulness. (Proverbs 3:3) We can have love, yet not be faithful. So, we need to have love and faithfulness to God and people in order to be esteemed.

The quality of life depends on what we do with God's word. The best way to remember His word is to spend time in His presence, to meditate on His word and to obey His Word.

The challenge is obedience, though. It involves three things: our mind to accept the Word, our will to do what the Word tell us and our body that needs to co-operate.

Very often the struggle is to allow our will to yield to God's will. There are many hindrances to that.

• Fear - Can I do this? If it is a failure, what will happen? When the Lord tells us to do something, let us do it boldly and confidently, trusting Him because He is there to accomplish that in our lives.


• People - the majority's opinion. Let us not wait for the majority to affirm it. Wherever we have sought the majority's help, it has been a failure. The people said: We want Saul. Release Barrabas. Both these turned out to be failures. We need to be careful that we don't confirm God’s will by looking at the majority.


• Doubt - will it help? Did the Lord really tell me? Is this God's voice? If our hearts are tuned to God, we will know it is from the Lord. His sheep hear His voice. It all depends on how close I am walking with Him, how intimate I am with Him.

It is important to obey God's Word. In obedience, there is safety, security and satisfaction. It is not just reading His Word - the tough part is to get our mind, will and body together and obey. The quality of life does not depend on what we possess, but depends on our obedience to His Word.

Our reputation before God and people is this: that loyalty and love become part of our lives. Are we people who have this loveliness to love people? Even the ones we don't know. The ones who are against us. The ones who don't care for us. Let us shift our focus on God’s Word on a great and loving God who adds value to our lives.

Trust and Obey, for there is no other way.
