ReBuild: 10 Ways Worship And Leadership Can Restore Broken Lives

DAY 2 OF 10

Thomas Chisholm, forced to retire from over 30 years of ministry after being diagnosed with heart failure and facing relative poverty, found himself at his wits’ end in early 1923. In the midst of uncertainty and sickness, he took a breath, sat down, and wrote some of the most famous lines in Christian music history:

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father!

There is no shadow of turning with Thee;

Thou changest not; Thy compassions, they fail not:

As thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.

Of the hymn, he said in a letter that he, “. . .must not fail to record here the unfailing faithfulness of a covenant-keeping God and that He has given me many wonderful displays of His providing care, for which I am filled with astonishing gratefulness.” Great Is Thy Faithfulness and its words of praise has impacted the lives of hundreds by simply proclaiming the faithfulness and endurance of God’s character.

The first step to rebuilding the ruins in people’s lives is by proclaiming the goodness of God. Worship leaders have a unique ability to put God’s character into song and to share it in a way that opens hearts and allows the broken to hear and receive good news. What are some ways you can proclaim the good news of Jesus through worship? Take time today to incorporate songs praising the good news of God’s faithfulness into your morning drive, your quiet time, your worship sets. Your proclamation to lead to someone else’s breakthrough.
