Jesus has been raised from the dead.  So what? 

Jesus’ church is the simple answer to this question. Whether you’re just joining us on this 1,000,000 chapters journey or have read through the first part already you’re about to dive into the true story of the early church starting in Acts.  Embracing this book for all it’s worth is vital for Jesus’ church to be able to live with the power of the resurrection today. 

Acts is the second volume of a two-part series written by an early follower of Jesus named Luke. He was a coworker with Paul on his missionary journeys and was a doctor by trade. If you didn’t get a chance to read the Gospel of Luke, it is a book where Luke shows how Jesus is the fulfillment of the Old Testament expectations from God’s covenant with His people. 

Luke will now expand in the book of Acts to show how Jesus and the church is the culmination of the story of how God interacts with the whole world. The work of Jesus didn’t end in his death and resurrection. Luke wants his readers to know that Jesus is alive and at work through His Spirit in the Church. 

This story is important to the church because it is our story. Luke captures the launching of Jesus’ revolution in the world and if we want to continue that same revolution in our world today then we need to be able to know where our story started. 

To help what you read take root in your life, ask yourself these 6 simple questions after you’re done reading: 

1. What stood out to me from what I read? 

2. Was there anything confusing or troubling? 

3. Did anything make me think differently about God?

4. Based on what I just read, am I making wise decisions? 

5. How can I become more like Jesus today?

6. What is God asking me to do today? 

Go ahead and take a screen shot of these questions and refer to them every day after you do your reading. Maybe try writing down your answers every day to track how God is working in your life.
