SHE 31 - Woman Of ValourSample

For the past 28 days we’ve been delving deeper into the life of this Proverbs 31 woman and learning lessons from her that we can put into practice ourselves. 

Today is where we’re going to be looking at the way in which she uses what she’s given and how she walks in her giftings and talents. 

Proverbs 31 v 22 says: “She makes her own bedspreads. She dresses in fine linen and purple gowns.”

What do you think this verse tells us about her?

Consider: You are gifted

This woman knows what her giftings are and she is confident in using them. She isn’t lazy and doesn't take it for granted. The Bible speaks a lot about gifts, in particular spiritual gifts. 

Read 1 Corinthians 12 (it’s long but it’s worth it). We all have different gifts. Imagine how boring it would be if we were all the same. Imagine if one body was made up solely of eyes. How would it walk or talk? How was it taste and smell? How would it hear and think? We are gifted differently and we complement each other. We are the Body and each of us has a vital part to play.

Context: Why bother?

I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t even attempt to make my own bedspreads. My creativity and talents lie elsewhere. To be honest, I wouldn't even know where to start. But I know of beautiful women in the Freedom Church movement who could. I think of Beth & Emily in our Hereford campus, or Katie & Zoe in our Cardiff campus and many other women across the world who can make the most beautiful things out of nothing. I’m proud of these women but I don’t envy them. I’m not called to use their gifts, I’m called to use my own. We’re not all the same and that’s ok. 

We don’t need to be the same as someone else, we simply need to use what we’ve been given. And we’ve all been given something unique.

• Do you know the gifts and talents that God has given you? If not, who can you ask to come alongside and help you discover them?


• Are you using your gifts to their full potential? Are you using them to glorify God? How?


• How can you develop your gift and use it more on a day-to-day basis?
