Love God Greatly-Fear & Anxiety

DAY 2 OF 41

READ: Proverbs 1:33, Proverbs 3:25-26, Luke 6:46-49

SOAP: Proverbs 1:33

It seems that every time we turn on the news, there is another story of catastrophe. A natural response to the various calamities such as flood, fire, earthquakes, and war would be fear. When we look to Scripture, the Lord shows us that He is our confidence. While He doesn’t promise us that disaster will not strike, as believers, with Him as our foundation, we are able to endure when the worst occurs.

Jesus taught a parable about a man who built his house on a foundation of stone. In this parable, he dug through the sand until he hit rock. Then, when the storm came, his house remained intact. As believers, we must dig past the surface of religion and reach the foundation of our faith, which is Christ, to survive trials that shake us to our core.

Are there any areas in your life where you feel you lack confidence? When we require assurance, we must continue to remember that it is the Lord who is our confidence and it is He who will continue to help us remain unshakable despite our circumstances. How does building your foundation on Christ help guard against being seized with fear?

Father God, thank You for giving me a foundation to build my faith upon, which is Christ. I praise you for Your protection. Help me to continue to build my faith each day, even though I struggle to look at You instead of my circumstances. Help me be still enough to listen to Your voice. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
