DAY 1 OF 12

Belong Together

First, a quick note for groups. If you’re meeting weekly to discuss this Bible Plan, simply read three days each week for a total of four weeks.

When God first created life, He had a pattern. He’d make a bunch of really amazing pieces of the universe, then stop and say, “It is good.” But after designing man, God broke the pattern. He said, “It is not good ...” To be exact, God said, “It is not good for man to be alone.”

Since God said it, quite a few others have jumped on board. Some of today’s most popular thinkers and researchers on leadership, psychology, and business are constantly pointing it out. Famous leadership author, Simon Sinek, says it plainly: “The most basic human desire is to feel like you belong.”

You, and maybe a group of friends, are starting this Bible Plan for the same reason. You want better relationships. You desire to belong.

It’s like we’re all born with a question: “Where do I fit?” We may be asking this question as a group, but each of us will have to discover an answer for ourselves. Because to know where you fit, you have to know who you are. Here are a few answers from the Bible: you’re not your own (1 Corinthians 7:23), actually you’re God’s (Psalm 100:3), and because of Jesus (Galatians 3:26), you were adopted as God’s kid (Romans 8:15).

As you begin Episode 1 and read today’s Scriptures, think about this question. Why do I want to be part of this group?
