What an incredible promise! The promise isn't that He will answer our prayers (which He does). The amazing promise is that God will be with us during times of grief, trouble, and despair. I need a God like this in my life.
As we pray, our confidence grows in the One to whom we pray. In the midst of our prayers, we learn that God is very near to everyone who will seek Him through prayer. When confidence grows, boldness increases.
God does answer; God does deliver. Knowing this removes fear and weight from our hearts and our souls. This closeness to God lifts us above our despair. In the midst of trusting God, instead of my faith eroding, my fear will diminish.
As we spend time with our God, we will be transformed having been in His presence. We will be drawn to hope. NOTHING in this world will cause permanent harm to us. We may not understand God’s methods for today, but we know His thoughts are thoughts of goodness and mercy toward His children.
Pour Out
Today, list those things causing you trouble, grief, and anxiety in your heart. Lift them individually to God in prayer. Believe that God is with you in the middle of the trouble. Seek His hand of guidance in the middle of the trouble.
