1 John

In just two verses—John 3:16 and 1 John 3:16—God reveals the depth of His love for humanity and the call for believers to live in response to Jesus' sacrifice. These passages, penned by the disciple Jesus loved, proclaim the very heart of the Gospel. The communities Apostle John pastored were filled with internal dissensions, false teachings self-claimed to be from the Spirit, and fake Christians who had depraved lifestyles. John wrote these letters to call readers to focus on the truth, discerning between the true and false teachings and between Christian and un-Christian behavior. The church door is open to all, but having the discernment to single out the pseudo-Christians is especially important.
