From Our Father to Amen: The Prayer That Shapes UsSýnishorn

Yours is the kingdom, power and glory forever
Eternal Praise to an Eternal God
The Lord’s Prayer ends as it began—with worship. We started with “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name” (Matthew 6:9 NKJV), and we conclude with the triumphant declaration: “For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever” (Matthew 6:13 NKJV). It’s as though Jesus reminds us that every prayer should begin and end with praise.
“Yours is the kingdom” anchors us in God’s sovereignty. He reigns. No matter what the headlines say or what chaos surrounds us, God is on the throne. He is the King of kings, and His rule is not temporary or uncertain. It is eternal, and His kingdom cannot be shaken. When we pray these words, we’re declaring our trust in the One who rules with justice, mercy, and wisdom.
“Yours is the power” affirms God’s ability. He is not only in charge—He is strong enough to accomplish His will. He spoke creation into being. He raises the dead. He parts seas and heals broken hearts. His power is not limited by our weakness. In fact, He invites us to come boldly to His throne and ask, because He is able to do "immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine" (Ephesians 3:20 NIV). When we feel powerless, we are reminded that His strength is made perfect in our weakness.
“Yours is the glory” shifts our eyes away from ourselves. All honor, all credit, all worship belongs to Him. He is the light of the world, and in His presence there is no darkness. One day, His glory will fill the earth completely, and every knee will bow, every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. As we pray, we learn to give Him glory now—in our words, our choices, and our lives.
And finally, “forever” roots us in eternity. God is not bound by time. He sees the end from the beginning, and He never changes. His promises are not temporary—they are everlasting. That’s why we can pray today with peace. He’s already in tomorrow.
So, as we close our prayers, we lift our eyes above our problems and say with confidence: “Yours, Lord, is the kingdom, the power, and the glory—forever.”
About this Plan

In Matthew chapter 6, Jesus gives us a model for prayer. This beautiful prayer, known as The Lord’s Prayer, begins with a worshipful "Our Father", reminding us of our close and loving relationship with God, and ends with "Amen" or “so be it”— a bold declaration of faith, trust, and surrender. As we reflect on the words our Lord has given us and the journey they take us through—worship, surrender, dependence, forgiveness, and spiritual protection—may “Amen” rise from our lips not as an ending, but as an act of worship.
