DAY 5 - ENGAGING A BRAND NEW WORLD
Noah is such an incredible example of someone who swam upstream in a culture where everyone did as they pleased. He pleased God and because of that God shared His heart and His plans for the future with Noah. Building an arc with detailed specifications seemed like a silly idea until the rains came. Noah became a solution in a world full of problems.
As believers we get to partner with God in that way. Rather than just pleasing ourselves and following our own plans, we know our lives do not belong to ourselves. We live in the beauty of deep surrender to the One who saved us. Paul reminds us of our position in Christ as we read through the first chapters of the letter to the Ephesians. We are seated with Christ in heavenly places. All things are under His feet. He has gained victory over all things by dying a horrible death on the cross.
Now Paul prays in Ephesians 1:17-19 (MSG): 'I ask the God of our Master, Jesus Christ, the God of glory - to make you intelligent and discerning in knowing him personally, your eyes focused and clear, so that you can see exactly what it is he is calling you to do, grasp the immensity of this glorious way of life he has for his followers, oh, the utter extravagance of his work in us who trust him - endless energy, boundless strength!'
What would it look like if we reminded ourselves of our position and our partnership with Christ? What would it look like if we engaged with the problems in the world around us with the mindset of Christ already has a solution to this challenge? What would it look like if we asked Christ for His solution or strategy for our communities and the problems we face? What would it look like if you were a solution to the problem your community faces?
Ask yourself these two questions -
* Can you see yourself as a solution to the problems your community faces?
* What perspective does the Lord want to give you today regarding the question above?
Let's pray together -
Jesus, thank you for paying the ultimate price to bring me back to life. Thank you for reminding me that I am seated with you in heavenly places and that I have access to your truth and wisdom. As I sit with you today, show me the solutions that you would like to empower me and my community with for your kingdom sake. Amen.
