Uncharted - Navigating the Unknown With a Trusted God

DAY 2 OF 6

DAY 2 - GOD IS REAL

Trust is foundational to every relationship. Wherever we are involved with people, we are asking these three questions: Are you real? Are you competent? Do you care? We ask these same questions as we engage with God as well. Those heroes of faith that Hebrews 11 speaks of, asked God these questions in their own stories. So, trust me, you are in good company!

Hebrews 11:6 (MSG) puts a different slant on faith: 'It is impossible to please God apart from faith. And why? Because anyone who wants to approach God must believe both that He exists and that He cares enough to respond to those who seek Him.'

Trusting God isn't just about having blind faith. Faith requires relationship. As the relationship grows, trust develops. Those who displayed great faith, cultivated a real relationship with Him. John 14:21 explains this idea further when it reminds us that when we respond to God, He shows, reveals and makes Himself real to us. Much like a friend that loves to spend time with you, will know deeper places in your heart and life, in the same way we get to know Him deeper as we make time for Him.

In relationship we get to influence and impact one another. Our hearts connect and we grow together. Proverbs 3:5 is so relevant in this regard as the writer urges us to trust God from the bottom of our heart and not to try and figure out everything on our own. That is the beauty of friendship!

Ask yourself these two questions -

* Do you believe that God is real and that He cares for you?

* In what way would you like to build trust with Him in this next week?

Let's pray together -

Jesus, you are faithful and true. I can trust you fully. Help me to know that you are near as I navigate decisions today. Amen.

Throughout history, explorers have been those who refused to accept the limits of their world. Every new age hurls us into deep uncertainty and leaves the individual with new terrain and complexities to navigate. Fortunately, we don't have to accomplish this in our own strength. Within Hebrews 11 we find people who have steered through challenging times just like we have. Discover the keys that made them successful. You, my friend, are called to be a hero of faith.
